Gospel of John 3:14-21

Everlasting life is promised to those who believe in Jesus:

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man [Jesus] be lifted up [on the cross]:

15 That whosoever believes in him should not perish [lake of fire], but have eternal life [heaven].

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish [lake of fire], but have everlasting life [heaven].

Believers in Jesus are not condemned:

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God [Jesus].

Believers embrace the light because they long for God to change them (unlike unbelievers who reject it to avoid correction):

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved [or rebuked and corrected].

21 And he that does truth [a believer who has already responded, opposite of verses 19 and 20] comes to the light that his deeds may be made visible that they are wrought in God.  (Gospel of John 3:14-21)
